Finca Colibri Educational Farm and Creative Space inspired by our native hummingbirds is a living ecosystem offering academic and experiential learning opportunities located in Douglas, Arizona. Finca Colibri is a nonprofit educational program for farmers and students to gain experience and knowledge about sustainable and organic agriculture through research, internships, apprenticeships, conferences, and volunteer opportunities. Finca Colibri uses creative agriculture to build education, economic development, health, wellness, food security, and social culture through farming in the peaceful foothills of the Chiricahua Mountains.

The hands-on experience of agricultural education helps foster tools for individuals to understand and guide them though many aspects of their life. What We Do
Education
Finca Colibri Educational Farm and Creative Space promotes agricultural education, by involving and educating our community we believe we can create a small impact in the agricultural carbon footprint. At Finca Colibri our program applies a classroom/lab approach to learn and understand agriculture from pest and weed control, crop selection/rotation, marketing and sales, logistics and supply chain, sustainability. Through this approach participants can develop leadership skills that are transferable within any career path. With the knowledge attained through Finca Colibri it can all be applied in a real farm setting that allows participants to see a product development from the ground up.
Economic Development
Agriculture has played and continues to play a key role in global economic development. The agricultural sector not only provides food but also a means of employment to millions. At Finca Colibri Educational Farm and Creative Space we believe with more emphasis given on the development of the agricultural sector and its related industries it can become the driving force to boost economies. Through our hands-on-approach and teaching the skills required within agriculture we believe we can improve the employment ratio. By creating a small-scale industry, starting in Cochise County, by brining pilot programs to this region this could provoke development of new infrastructure; trained and skilled laborers, jobs and potentially attraction for investment within Cochise County that will stimulate our economy.
Health and Wellness
Agriculture and health are linked in many ways. First, agriculture is essential for good health: it produces the worlds food. Health and wellness are a personal journey, but our support system offers education within agriculture and teach the basic principles of farming. Participants, will learn how to develop a healthy relationship with food by cooking, gardening with a therapeutic approach, mental health awareness, and exercise. Volunteers will not only learn in a classroom setting but also with our hands on approach that offers plenty of exercise and movement during the experiential implementation.
Food Insecurity
Agricultural development is critically important to improving food security and nutrition. The main role is increasing the quantity and diversity of food within our community. At Finca Colibri Educational Farm and Creative Space will promote food availability through production and education of agricultural systems and approach. Our goal is creating healthy food products that are accessible to anyone. The utilization of food for adequate diet, health, and nutritional well-being where all physiological needs are met bring out the importance of all the non-food inputs in food security.
Farmers Markets and Retail
Conceptualize go-to-market strategies and offer guidance for success. At Finca Colibri Educational Farm and Creative Space you will learn the steps from start to finish in implementing your farm goals. We offer education pre and post harvest, branding and marketing. From concept to reality we can teach you the skill to launch your product and a true farm to table experience.

In order to address the social and culture factors impacting our community it is important to understand that demographic, social and cultural differences and how they play a key role in our health choices.
